Mixing elements of dance and experimental music, producer Kios Nil aims to subvert expectations of the listener in his recent tracks. His tracks are a study of the technicalities of bass design in conjuction with the usage of foley atop intricate arrangements of drum beats. Joining NUS Electronic Music Lab has allowed Kios Nil to push the boundaries of his music even further, by collaborating with NUS Dance Synergy in their contemporary dance production. Kios Nil is also pursuing a collaborative project, Abeyance, together with an ambient-focused music producer. Abeyance documents the juxtaposition between bass-heavy, upbeat music and soft, atmospheric layers of sound. His other hobbies include listening to bell sounds and trying to reconcile the feeling of refering to himself by his artist alias.

TL;DR
I am actually fairly confident in my techincal abilities as a producer, having been using FL Studio and Ableton extensively. However, if I were to be honest with myself, I struggle with melodies and feelings in my songs - exacerbated by the mental barrier that I am not classically trained. Style-wise, expanding to experimental music is something I am working on but the skillset required is completely different from writing classic mainstream EDM. Yet, I find the process of sucking at what I do enjoyable; the learning curve is steep and painful but frankly fun to endure. That's where the community of music producers I found through EML helps. Learning bits and pieces from different styles of music and constantly being exposed sources of inspiration is something I look forward to every session. Everyone has their own approach when tackling songwriting, which I find really interesting. Also there's a pretty sweet guitar in the studio which I like to play with since I don't have my own.
