Used to be part of Chinese Orchestra and Piano Ensemble, Yurou joined EML because she wanted to start creating her own music instead of just performing. She enjoys music from a wide variety of genres and styles, but is most influenced and inspired by film and classical music because she loves how they often paint vivid pictures, tell stories, or convey messages to their listeners. While many of her creations so far can be described as ambient, she is also in the process of exploring more upbeat music, as well as trying to incorporate a wider variety of musical elements and inspirations to her creations. She doesn't believe that her music should conform to any specific genre. Music harmony and texture is important to her. Since joining EML in Year 1, Yurou has been part of several collaborations and performances with EML, including The City Remembers (collaboration with NUS Stage) and On the Shoulder of Giants (collaboration with NUS Dance Synergy). She is still seeking to learn more production techniques and to improve the production quality of her music.
